Sprint Set to Pump Additional US$1 Billion into WiMAX Venture

­USA based WiMAX network operator, clearwire is set to receive a US$1.5 billion cash injection from Sprint Nextel and its partners, reports the Wall Street Journal. Citing the usual people close to the matter, the newspaper said that Sprint Nextel would contribute US$1 billion of the extra investment, with the rest coming from the other shareholders.  more

Sprint Nextel Q1 Loss Widens to $594 Million

Sprint Nextel has reported its first-quarter financials - and recorded a deepening loss of US$594 million, down by 18% on the US$505 million a year ago. Net operating revenues were $8.2 billion, down 12% on the US$9.3 billion a year ago.  more

Sprint Outlines WiMAX Expansion Programme

Court Gives Sprint Just One Year to Leave Nextel Network in iPCS Territory

A US court has given Sprint Nextel about a year to abandon its Nextel network in the territory of one of its wireless affiliates, iPCS Wireless following a lengthy and acrimonious court battle. The order requires Sprint to cease owning, operating and managing the Nextel wireless network in iPCS Wireless' service area on or before January 25, 2010. The order provides that Sprint may request an extension of that period upon a showing of good cause.  more

Sprint, Clearwire Sued Over WiMAX Patent Claims

Adaptix, a Texan WiMAX base station and mobile terminal vendor has launched legal action against Sprint Nextel and clearwire for allegedly infringing six of its patents.
