Motorola wins Chinese CDMA contract

Motorola says that it is the first supplier to sign a contract with China Unicom for the Phase III expansion of the operator's CDMA2000 1X network. The expansion contract, worth more than US$80 million, will bring advanced mobile communications services to customers in the cities of Nanjing, Suzhou, WuXi, Changzhou, Nantong and Zhenjiang in Jiangsu province, one of the most developed districts of China. more

Motorola wins GSM and GPRS contracts in China

Motorola has announced the signing of five contracts for GSM and GPRS networks expansion with China Mobile. The total value of the five contracts is US$146 million. Under the terms of the additional contracts, Motorola will expand the GSM 900 and 1800 networks in Hubei, Jiangxi, Shanxi, Tianjin, and Beijing. China Mobile's GSM network capacity in these areas is expected to reach a total of 11 million subscribers. The networks are scheduled to be fully operational by the end of the year. In addition, Motorola will expand the Beijing Mobile GPRS network, using a Motorola and cisco Systems solution, to increase network coverage. Scheduled for completion later this month, the network will cover the area within the Fourth Ring Road of Beijing. Beijing Mobile's current GPRS core network was provided by Motorola last year." more
