Taiwan Operator Upgrades 3G Network

Taiwan Mobile Upgrades its RAN Backhaul Platform

Axerra Networks has announced that Taiwan Mobile has deployed its Pseudo-Wire solutions in its radio access network (RAN) for the backhaul of UMTS and GSM voice and data traffic. Axerra's sytems enable Taiwan Mobile to utilize the power, flexibility, and cost-effectiveness of Carrier Ethernet as a full-service alternative to TDM backhaul in the mobile wireless RAN.  more

Nokia Siemens Wins Taiwan 3G Network Contract

Taiwan's Chunghwa Telecom has awarded a 3G network expansion and services contract to Nokia Siemens Networks. The project will further expand Chunghwa Telecom's 3G network coverage and also boost high speed Internet access by using HSDPA service. A hybrid backhaul solution will allow Chunghwa Telecom to utilize IP transmission in base station backhaul to increase cost efficiency.  more
