Alcatel-Lucent Wins Chinese Contracts Worth $1.7 Billion

Alcatel-Lucent has inked two framework agreements valued US$1.7 billion in total with China Mobile and China Telecom, to provide network upgrades, integration and maintenance services in 2009. The agreements were secured through Alcatel-Lucent Shanghai Bell, Alcatel-Lucent's Chinese company.  more

ZTE, Other 3G Device Providers Play Active Role in Deploying 3G Networks in China

CCID, a research firm in China disclosed recently in an industry report which predicted that the rapid deployment of 3G networks in China will eventually result in the creation of about 660,000 3G subscriber lines by Q3 this year. iPhone in China: China Mobile or China Unicom?

Fitch Affirms China Mobile's Ratings at A+

Fitch Ratings has today affirmed China Mobile's (CML) Long-term foreign currency Issuer Default Rating (IDR) at 'A+'. Meanwhile the agency has assigned CML an 'A+' Long-term local currency IDR. The Outlook is Stable.  more

Influence of Telecom Restructuring in China's Telecom Market

On May 24, 2008, a telecom-restructuring plan was decided, triggering a new round of discussions in a telecom industry that had been quiet for some time. In accordance with the restructuring plan, China Telecom would purchase the CDMA network (both assets and subscribers) of China Unicom; China Unicom would be merged with China Netcom; the fundamental telecom service of China Satcom would be merged into the business of China Telecom; and China Railcom would be merged into China Mobile.
