Chinese Telcos to Spend $1.6 Billion in Shanghai During 2010

China Mobile Still Considering Mainland Stock Market Listing

China Mobile Planning $4.6 Billion 3G Spend in Shanghai

China Mobile plans to spend around RMB 31 billion (US$4.6 billion) on its 3G network in Shanghai by 2011, mainly as the city prepares for the World Expo 2010. The investment will create about 3,000 new jobs in the city during the period under a deal signed between China Mobile and the Shanghai government, according to a report in the Shanghai Daily.  more

Alcatel-Lucent Wins Chinese Contracts Worth $1.7 Billion

Alcatel-Lucent to Expand China Mobile Pakistan's Network

Alcatel-Lucent has signed a contract worth US$52.9 million with China Mobile Pakistan (CMPak), to expand its existing GSM/EDGE network. The expansion, which is now underway, will allow CMPak to provide enhanced commercial services in northern Pakistan by the end of the first quarter of 2009.  more

Apple's iPhone Appears on China Unicom Website

In a move which is bound to fuel speculation, China Unicom's Shanghai division has posted details of the Apple iPhone upon its customer website. Although no details are offered about availability, the model being displayed does seem to have had at least one modification for the local market - it supports Chinese language inputs, suggesting the specifications have come from an internal document.  more
