Alcatel-Lucent Wins Chinese Contracts Worth $1.7 Billion

China Mobile Full-Year Profits Up 30 Percent
China Mobile has reported an 29.6 percent rise in its full-year earnings to reach RMB 112.8 billion (US$16.53 billion), but warned that profits growth slowed in the final quarter as competition intensified and the economic slowdown took its toll. Full-year operating revenues reached RMB 412.3 billion (US$60.4 billion), up 15.5 percent. year-on-year. more

Nokia Siemens Networks Wins Chinese Contracts Worth $1.1 Billion
China Mobile and China Unicom have separately signed agreements to purchase 2G and 3G mobile equipments and services from Nokia Siemens Networks during 2009. Under the framework agreements Nokia Siemens Networks will roll out WCDMA networks for China Unicom in 11 provinces across China. In addition, it will provide China Mobile with TD-SCDMA and GSM networks. more

Clearwire Aims for 31 Million WiMAX Subscribers by 2017
US WiMAX operator, Clearwire - which has been formed from the merger of the Clearwire and Sprint Nextel divisions expects to have some 1.3 million subscribers by the end of 2009 and 4.6 million by the end of 2010. The company is forecasting revenues of over $17.5bn by 2017, by which time the company expects to have around 31 million subscribers. more

LTE Subscribers: From Zero to 32 Million in Three Years
Despite the fact that no LTE (Long Term Evolution) network is expected to be commercial before 2010, a new study from ABI Research forecasts that by 2013, there will be more than 32 million subscribers using LTE networks.
