Asia-Pacific Telecom Sector Well-Placed to Defend Credit Profiles

Debt ratings agency, Fitch Ratings says in a new report, that notwithstanding the impact of the current recessionary environment, the overall Outlook for the Asia Pacific telecoms industry is Stable, and most operators are well-placed to defend their credit profiles. The report explores how key financial metrics will move for each of the operators across Asia Pacific in 2009 and conclude that while revenue growth is likely to slow, cash flow from operations (CFO) and free cash flow (FCF) after dividends are likely to, on average, moderately rise.  more

Fitch Ratings has today affirmed China Mobile's (CML) Long-term foreign currency Issuer Default Rating (IDR) at 'A+'. Meanwhile the agency has assigned CML an 'A+' Long-term local currency IDR. The Outlook is Stable.  more

China Telecom Industry Restructuring - Positive but 3G Uncertainties Remain

The debt ratings agency, Fitch has commented that the recently announced telecommunication (telecom) industry restructuring in China helps somewhat towards resolving the uncertainty that has surrounded the industry for years. The announced industry restructuring falls in line with the agency's expectation, i.e. China Mobile acquires China Tietong Communications Corporation, China Telecom acquires China Unicom's CDMA business and network, and China Unicom's GSM business merges with China Netcom.  more

Asia-Pacific Telecom Sector Well-Positioned to Manage Risks

Debt ratings agency, Fitch Ratings stated today that its overall outlook for the Asia-Pacific telecommunications sector in 2008 is stable, with 24 out of its total 28 rated telecommunications issuers bearing a Stable Outlook. Highlighting a newly published report, the agency outlines its expectations on how key financial metrics will move for 26 operators across Asia-Pacific in 2008, concluding that while revenue growth is likely to slow, cash flow from operations (CFO) and free cash flow (FCF) after dividends are likely to rise on aggregate.  more
