Israeli Operators Submit Bids for Motorola Subsidiary
Two of Israel's mobile network operators have submitted non-binding offers to buy rival network, MIRS, which is currently owned by Motorola. Both cellcom and Partner, which itself is being put up for sale, have submitted bids. Neither company have detailed how much they are offering for the mobile network operator, although the company has been previously valued at around US$300 million. more

Israel's Pelephone 3G base Surpasses 1 Million Mark
Pelephone is the third largest of IsraelÃ's four networks, but it was the fastest growing in Q3 08, both in real terms and proportionately. It added 62k customers in the quarter compared to 40k for market leader cellcom and 36k for second-placed Partner, and its proportionate quarterly growth rate stood at 2.4% compared to 1.3% for both its rivals. At the end of the quarter its active customer base was just short of 2.70m. Nearest rival Partner had 2.88m, which means that its lead over Pelephone was below 200k for the first time in three years. more

Cellcom Israel Q2 '08 - Impressive Financials Thanks to 3G Growth
Israeli market leader cellcom maintained a lead of more than quarter of a million at the end of Q2 08 with 3.12m customers compared to 2.86m for nearest rival Partner. On an annual basis, cellcom saw 5.3% growth to its customer base, almost half the 10.5% rate recorded for the prior twelve months but a good result nonetheless given that growth has slowed considerably in the Israeli market. Indeed, both Partner and Pelephone lost customers in Q1, and although cellcomÃ's Q2 net additions of 22k lagged behind the 33k recorded by Partner, on a half-yearly basis cellcom was well ahead with a 44k gain compared to a 4k loss for its rival. more

Cellcom Loses Legal Action on Tower Planning Applications
The Israeli operator, cellcom has announced that it has lost a legal ruling where it had tried to claim that it (and other mobile operators) were exempt from the requirement to obtain building permits before installing towers/base stations on the building. more
