Qualcomm Shows Off Rural Mobile PC Base

Qualcomm has launched an alternative PC - which it aims to make available for rural and emerging markets where landline access to the internet is not available. The company says that its Kayak PC alternative fills the niche that exists between desktop PCs, which normally require landlines or separate accessories for connectivity, and Internet-capable wireless devices.  more

Qualcomm Responds to Nokia Lawsuits

Qualcomm has responded to Nokia's decision to file complaints against the company in Germany and the Netherlands. Although Qualcomm says that it has not seen the complaints, Nokia's press release alleges that Qualcomm's patents are exhausted with regards to Nokia's products placed on the European market that contain chipsets supplied to Nokia by Texas Instruments. more

Qualcomm expects Brazil to hold 3G auction in 1H07

US mobile technology firm Qualcomm expects Brazil's telecoms regulator Anatel to hold an auction for 3G spectrum licenses in the first half of 2007, Marco Aurélio Rodrigues, president of Qualcomm in Brazil, told BNamericas. more

Motorola Expands Qualcomm Partnership

Qualcomm and Motorola have announced an expansion in their relationship. In addition to collaborating on cdma2000, the two companies will now be working together to bring UMTS handsets to global markets. Motorola Mobile Devices has approved Qualcomm's Mobile Station Modem (MSM) chipsets for incorporation into future UMTS handset designs. more

Qualcomm Not Responsible for Price Differences Between CDMA and GSM Handsets
