MetroPCS Extends Existing Arangements with Alcatel-Lucent

USA based MetroPCS Wireless has announced a three and one-half- year extension of an existing agreement with Alcatel-Lucent to include, among other things, Alcatel-Lucent's third-generation (3G) cdma2000 mobile networking solutions to build out MetroPCS' AWS spectrum in New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Las Vegas, Detroit, Dallas and Los Angeles. Currently, MetroPCS offers PCS service in the Miami, Orlando, Sarasota, Tampa, Atlanta, Dallas, Detroit, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Sacramento metropolitan areas.  more

Alcatel-Lucent has been awarded a contract to upgrade the US based CDMA operator, NTELOS's wireless network. The three- year agreement with nTelos is worth up to $88.2 million in equipment, services and software. The network upgrade includes the deployment of cdma2000 1xEV-DO Revision A (Rev. A) technology in nTelos markets in Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky, Ohio and North Carolina. more
