ZTE Building CDMA Network in Madagascar
ZTE has announced that it is rolling out an all-IP mobile phone and data network for Madamobil, a new mobile operator in Madagascar. The network rollout is currently in its final stages with ZTE supplying the core equipment and the base stations for the first phase of the network construction. Madamobil, which will offer services under the "Life" brand, is the only mobile broadband network operation in Madagascar operating on CDMA 2000 1X/EVDO. more

Mexico's antitrust authority CFC (Cofeco) recently won a legal battle upholding its decision to allow bidders no more than 35MHz of 1900MHz spectrum that was auctioned in 2005. This puts an end to temporary injunctions that allowed bidders to claim up to 65MHz and means the government must now re-auction any spectrum awarded in excess of the 35MHz permitted. more

LG Telecom May Lose 3G License
South Korea's LG Telecom faces losing its 3G license after the operator said that it is planning the delay the rollout of the network. LG Telecom was awarded an operating license in the 2GHz band for CDMA2000 services in 2001, but has concentrated on upgrading its existing 1.8Ghz CDMA network. more
