South Korean W-CDMA base exceeds EV-DO in fourth quarter
All three South Korean operators have now reported their Q4 08 results. The South Korean market is one of the most stable in the world, and it was thus no surprise that market shares remained unchanged both quarter-on-quarter and year-on-year, with SK Telecom (SKT) on 50.5%, KT Freetel (KTF) on 31.5% and LG Telecom (LGT) on 18.0%. In fact, barring a minor blip in June, there was no change in market shares on a monthly basis either throughout 2008. more

South Korean CDMA network upgrades
South Korea's SK Telecom has contracted Samsung Electronics to provide data core network equipment for its CDMA network. The carrier has deployed the Samsung Mobile Access Gateway 400 (SMAG 400 which is Starent Networks Corporation's ST16 Intelligent Mobile Gateway) as a Packet Data Serving Node (PDSN). The SMAG 400 (Starent ST16) has been deployed in SK Telecom's CDMA2000 1X and CDMA2000 1X EV-DO network. more

10 million new CDMA2000 subscribers in three months
The CDMA Development Group (CDG) has reported that 10 CDMA2000 networks were deployed and more than 10 million new CDMA2000 users were added in the third quarter 2003. At the end of September, there were 71 commercial CDMA2000 networks in 36 countries on 6 continents serving more than 64.5 million subscribers. more
