Nokia Handset Gets CDMA Certification

The CDMA Development Group (CDG) and Nokia have jointly announced that the CDMA Certification Forum (CCF) has certified the Nokia 2355 CDMA2000 1X phone for commercial availability. Nokia is the first tier-one handset manufacturer to utilize the CCF's streamlined test and global certification process. The Nokia 2355 mobile phone was tested by Wireless Test Systems (WTS) in San Diego using the standard CCF Lab (CCF-L) test plan, which increases the number of test cases conducted by 40% over other test processes. more

CDMA Rollout Update

The CDMA Development Group (CDG)has announced that the number of CDMA2000 operators reached 143 at the end of the last year, and the technology is now deployed in 67 countries across 6 continents. Furthermore, the number of 1xEV-DO networks nearly doubled from 16 to 29 in 2005. CDMA2000 momentum will continue in 2006, with 30 new operators scheduled to deploy commercial networks (compared to 20 last year) and 21 additional trials underway. The number of 1xEV-DO networks will reach 70 in the coming months, and 1xEV-DO Rev A will enter the commercial phase. more

AirPrime has introduced the latest addition to its Helium 1x family of CDMA embedded modules: the EM3400 series. The EM3400 series platform is a compact full-featured CDMA2000 1x embedded module supporting dual band operation, assisted GPS functionality and comprehensive voice and data applications. The EM3400 platform is the first module available to the OEM marketplace based on QUALCOMM's advanced Zero-IF based technology known as radioOne and the MSM6050 baseband processor. AirPrime is one of the early adopters of QUALCOMM's radioOne technology and the new EM3400 series represents the company's first in a series of new products based on this architecture. more

Nortel completes 3G CDMA test calls

Nortel Networks has completed third generation (3G) wireless voice and data calls using CDMA2000 1xEV-DO and CDMA2000 1X wireless standards over 2.1 GHz radio spectrum in the Nortel Networks Global Technology Center in Ottawa. This is particularly significant for wireless service providers in the Asia Pacific region, where 2.1 GHz spectrum is being considered for use in delivering commercial wireless services.
