EU Moves Closer to Approving 3G at 900Mhz

Huawei delivers China Unicom' s first 3G network in Zhengzhou

Huawei says that it has deployed China' s first Wcdma commercial network for China Unicom in Zhengzhou, Henan province, China. In China Unicom' s Phase One UMTS tender, Huawei was awarded the largest market share of over 30 percent based on number of transceiver to be deployed.  more

ZTE, Other 3G Device Providers Play Active Role in Deploying 3G Networks in China

Global Mobile Market to Exceed US$900 Billion in 2008

A report from IDATE says that the world telecom services market is estimated at US$1,365 billion in 2008 - a 4.2% increase over the year before - and is expected to be worth over US$1,416 billion in 2009. With a total turnover estimated at US$742.2 billion in 2008, mobile services account for 54% of the telecom services market and single handedly deliver all of the sector's growth. But the annual growth rate has dropped from more than 12% in 2007 to 8% in 2008.  more

Israeli Operator Orders 3G Fault Management Platform

OSS vendor, TTI Telecom has been chosen by Israel's Pelephone to provide the Fault Management solution for the operator's UMTS network. The solution expands upon Pelephone's current OSS solution, also provided by TTI Telecom in 1996, which manages cdma 1xRTT and EVDO based on Nortel and Motorola products.  more

Millicom Profits Rise - Plans Cuts in CAPEX for 2009

Millicom International has reported a 53% increase in its subscribers for Q3 08 versus Q3 07, bringing total subscribers to 30.6 million - along with a 27% increase in revenues for Q3 08 to US$869 million. Net profit for Q3 08 rose by 17% to $161 million, while BITDA increased by 25% to $369 million.  more

Radcom Wins Chinese Softswitch Troubleshooting Contract

Radcom has announced that an unnamed Chinese mobile operator has selected it to troubleshoot Softswitching on its core network.
