Desktop Computers are Ceding Ground to Mobile Enabled Laptops
Laptops outstripped desktops for the first time in terms of revenue due to a higher average sale price (ASP). Frost & Sullivan believes another could follow this first in 2009, when laptop unit sales will exceed that of desktops, globally. Analysis from Frost & Sullivan finds that the market earned revenues of US$137.3 billion in 2008 and estimates this to reach US$211.4 billion in 2014. more

Sony to Embed Qualcomm's Gobi Platform in Laptop Computers
Sony says that it has selected Qualcomm's Gobi mobile Internet technology for use in its VAIO notebook PC lines. Sony is the first notebook manufacturer to make Gobi technology a standard feature in several of its PC models. more
