CDMA Group criticizes Brazilian decision
In a letter to Luiz Guilherme Schymura de Oliveira, president of Anatel, the CDMA Development Group (CDG) reaffirmed its disagreement of Anatel's recent decision to deny Vesper's request to offer full mobility services in the 1.9 GHz spectrum band on a secondary basis. The CDG contends that the decision is not beneficial to Brazilian consumers and the Brazilian economy, is legally inconsistent and is not defensible from a technical perspective. more

Nortel completes 3G CDMA test calls
Nortel Networks has completed third generation (3G) wireless voice and data calls using CDMA2000 1xEV-DO and CDMA2000 1X wireless standards over 2.1 GHz radio spectrum in the Nortel Networks Global Technology Center in Ottawa. This is particularly significant for wireless service providers in the Asia Pacific region, where 2.1 GHz spectrum is being considered for use in delivering commercial wireless services.
