Enhancements quadruple the voice capacity of existing CDMA2000 1X networks

The CDMA Development Group (cdg) has announced that the specifications for CDMA2000 1X Advanced have been completed and published by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project 2 (3GPP2). ­The 1X Advanced standard allows 3G CDMA operators to significantly increase the voice capacity of their CDMA2000 1X network by taking advantage of several interference cancellation and radio link enhancements. Among these improvements are base transceiver station (BTS) interference cancellation, improved power control, early frame termination, and smart blanking.  more

India Passes 100 Million CDMA Subscriber Landmark

EV-DO Mobile Broadband Tops 100 Million Subscribers Worldwide

The CDMA Development Group (cdg) says that CDMA2000 and 1xEV-DO technologies have surpassed 450 million and 100 million users, respectively, worldwide. The total cumulative cdmaOne and CDMA2000 subscriber base has reached 463 million, growing by 12 million net subscribers during the second quarter of 2008.  more

CDG Absorbs CDMA450 Trade Group

Indonesia Leads Southeast Asia in 3G CDMA Subscriber Growth

The CDMA Development Group (cdg) has announced that, as of Q1 2008, Indonesia had more than 16.3 million CDMA2000 subscribers -- making it the leader in Southeast Asia for 3G CDMA subscriber growth. CDMA Subscribers Passes 450 Million Mark

The CDMA Development Group (cdg) has announced that the CDMA industry continued its strong growth through the first quarter of 2008, increasing its customer base by almost 17% over the past year to 451 million CDMA subscribers worldwide, with CDMA2000 and CDMA2000 1xEV-DO reaching 438 million and 97 million, respectively. The Asia-Pacific (APAC) and Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) regions claimed the highest year-over-year percentage subscriber growth for CDMA2000, while the Americas and EMEA experienced the highest percentage of subscriber growth for CDMA2000 1xEV-DO.  more

CDMA Group Reacts to the Proposed 3G Spectrum Policy in India

The CDMA Development Group (cdg) has commented that the proposed 3G spectrum allocation policy put forth by India's Department of Telecommunications (DoT) will further inhibit CDMA operators' access to spectrum in the region. The policy under review would assign 3G spectrum in the 800 MHz and 2100 MHz frequency bands, which the cdg agrees will enable the mass market deployment of 3G CDMA services to India.  more
