Vodafone New Zealand Outsources Call Center Work to Egypt
Vodafone New Zealand has moved some call center work to Egypt after the company said it could not recruit enough staff within New Zealand. Starting next month, a team of 32 staff in an Egyptian call centre will take up to 30,000 calls per month for the New Zealand operator - increasing over time to some 200,000 calls per month and 200 staff. more

PrePay Customer Care Gets Outsourced
Telecom New Zealand says that it plans to outsource the customer care call center for its PrePay mobile customers to offices in Manila, Philippines. The company says that there will be no loss of jobs to call centre staff in New Zealand; all existing staff will be offered the chance to move to other areas. more

Orange looking to outsource call center work to India
The UK arm of the phone network, Orange is reported to be considering outsourcing some 1,500 call center jobs to India. A report in the Daily Telegraph said that the company has started trials with two India based sub-contractors, Convergys and Vertex, in which 215 call centre workers in Delhi will answer customer service inquiries during peak periods. more
