The Traditional Call Centre is Dead; Online Customer Service is King
Call centre phone queues, not being able to find information on a company's website and waiting for email replies are the biggest customer service frustrations amongst British consumers using mobile phone or broadband provider websites, according to an online survey of over 2,000 people, commissioned by online customer care vendor, nGenera CIM. In fact, 96% of customers say they would proactively look for a competitor or stop using a company's website altogether following poor customer service. This is not surprising given that 93% say customer service is either important or very important when using the web. more

T-Mobile Germany Improves Call Center Performance
Germany based ASC telecom has signed a framework contract with Deutsche Telekom for the delivery of software for improving quality as well as optimizing processes of all Telekom inhouse call centers. The framework contract covers the planning, projecting, delivery and implementation of ASC's quality management software for more than 10,000 call center agents at 33 locations as well as the education of agents, trainers and supervisors. more

US network operator, AT&T says that it has revamped its more than 2,200 of its retail outlets across the country. The makeover builds on investments AT&T has made over the past 18 months since AT&T's merger with BellSouth and acquisition of Cingular Wireless. More than half of all AT&T-owned stores now offer visitors both wired and wireless products and services. more

MTS India, the mobile network joint venture between Shyam group and Russia's MTS, has ordered a pay-per-use call center platform from Tata Communications. The company has deployed all the hardware and software needed to run a call center like IVR, ACD, dialer, recording, integration with 3rd party business applications and CRM software, etc. while MTS would pay on actual usage basis, giving it the freedom to ramp up or ramp down based on the business environment. more
