Mobile Wireless Infrastructure Market Grows 13% in Q1 2008
Synergy has issued a report which shows the worldwide mobile wireless infrastructure market has climbed 13.1 percent year over year. The fastest growing market segment was Mobile Softswitch, which grew 43.8 percent year over year, followed by UMTS equipment, which increased 27.3 percent year over year. more

Nokia Launches New Frequency Set Base Station
In anticipation of the USA regulators auction of licenses for the 1700/2100 MHz, and 700 MHz spectrum bands, Nokia has introduced the Nokia Flexi Base Station, an innovative, multi-radio platform. The Nokia Flexi Base Station enables easy deployment of 3G and/or broadband wireless networks, like WCDMA, HSPA, and WiMAX, and services in multiple spectrum bands with a claimed up to 70% lower base station site expenditures compared to using wide area base stations deployed in networks today. more

Alvarion has announced that prior to the finalization of the acquisition of interWAVE, the company received its first order from its local partner and integrator, STS, to roll out a GSM network in Russia for Gorizont-RT, the telecom operator in the Republic of Sakha, Russia.
