Huawei Launches Vodafone Co-Developed Base Station for Rural Areas
Huawei says that it has launched a 2G base station (bts) designed for use in rural communities in developing markets. The “EasyGSM bts” is an All IP-based compact bts, and was co-designed and developed in collaboration with Vodafone in the two firms’ joint Radio Mobile Innovation Centre based in Madrid, Spain. more

Telefonica and Vodafone in Deal to Share European Networks
Telefonica and Vodafone have confirmed rumours and announced a 10-year European deal to share aspects of their radio networks and infrastructure in Germany, Spain, Ireland and the UK. As part of the collaboration, Telefónica and Vodafone are also exploring opportunities to cooperate in related areas such as the provision of transmission services. more

O2, Vodafone Reported to be in Network Sharing Talks
UK operators, O2 and Vodafone are reported to be in advanced talks regarding sharing their network infrastructure. Citing people close to the talks, the Financial Times that a deal "could provide them with significant savings in capital and operating spending". Vodafone's CEO, Vittorio Collao is currently seeking annual cost savings of £1bn by 2010-11 to bring the UK divisions' operating margins up to the average compared to its other country networks. more

Orange and Vodafone to Expand Network Sharing Partnership
The UK arms of Orange and Vodafone are expected to expand their existing network sharing agreements to include sharing the costs of engineering, maintenance, and technology, in a move which is expected to save Vodafone (and Orange presumably) around US$1.45 billion a year. more
