Global BTS Transceiver Market Grew 20.5% in 2008
The global base transmitting station (bts) transceiver (TRx) market grew by 20.5% in units in 2008, according to the latest report from EJL Wireless Research. The overall market is expected to decline in 2009 and remain weak through 2011 before seeing a rebound in 2012. GSM shipments continue to represent the majority of the overall market demand in the forecast but will see a gradual decline. more

Cambodian network awards expansion contract
Recently the Chinese Huawei Technologies, won two further biddings for the third and fourth phase network expansion projects from the GSM network operated by Cambodia Shinawatra, under the brand name Camshin. The two contract wins value around US$13 million in total. Additional bts, MSC, HLR, BSC, and about 400 TRX will be deployed on the Camshin's network as per these two bidding contracts in addition to replacement and expansion of original bts and BSC. At present Huawei's equipment installed for the third phase has been reliably and successfully running well along with Siemens 1800M equipment and other equipment running on the same telecom network. It not only covers the whole capital city of Phnom Penh, the busiest and largest city of Cambodia, but also the remote areas by using satellite transmission." more
