Huawei says that it has launched a 2G base station (bts) designed for use in rural communities in developing markets. The “EasyGSM bts” is an All IP-based compact bts, and was co-designed and developed in collaboration with Vodafone in the two firms’ joint Radio Mobile Innovation Centre based in Madrid, Spain. more

Huawei Wins Indonesian Network Contract
Huawei has been chosen by AXIS, IndonesiaÃ's newest GSM and 3G operator, as a key partner in rolling out its full service national network. Under the agreement, Huawei will design, build, deploy and manage AXISÃ' 2G/3G network within the island of Java, Bali, Lombok, Kalimantan and Sulawesi for a period of three years to 2010. Specifically, Huawei will be responsible for close to 4,000 sites across the country, on GSM and 3G radio access, optical and microwave transmission. more

Synergy has issued a report which shows the worldwide mobile wireless infrastructure market has climbed 13.1 percent year over year. The fastest growing market segment was Mobile Softswitch, which grew 43.8 percent year over year, followed by UMTS equipment, which increased 27.3 percent year over year. more

Huawei Wins Chinese GSM Network Contract
Huawei Technologies has won a GSM expansion contract with China Mobile. Valued at approximately US$700 million, the contract represents 23.6 percent of China Mobile's GSM group purchase project and is the second largest share. Huawei also doubled its share of this year's GSM group purchase project as compared to 2006. more
