BT Plans to Build World's Largest Free WiFi Network

The UK based British Telecom (BT) has agreed to create what it says will be the world's largest "free" WiFi network - in a deal with Spain's FON. Every person who agrees to share a small portion of their home broadband connection, by opening up a separate, secure channel on their wireless router, will be able to share the connection of any other member. BT Total Broadband customers will also be able to use BT's premium existing hotspot network BT Openzone, including 12 Wireless Cities.  more

T-Mobile UK Triples Wi-Fi Network Via BT Tie-Up

LONDON -(Dow Jones)- T-Mobile U.K., the British mobile telecommunications arm of Deutsche Telekom AG (DT), Thursday said it has tied-up with BT Group PLC's (BTY) BT Openzone division to offer both companies' customers Wi-Fi Internet access.  more
