Vodafone Expanding UK Retail Store Outlets
Vodafone UK has announced plans to open a further 50 retail stores over the coming financial year, taking its total to 400. The expansion plans build on Vodafone's announcement in March that it would be recruiting over 300 more retail employees. These new stores will create approximately 200 additional roles in retail. more

British Drivers Still Texting While Driving
A survey of 2,000 Facebook users by the UK motoring association, the RAC has revealed that 45% of UK drivers are still using SMS whilst driving. Only 11% of motorists turn off their phones or switch them to mute - leaving 89% of drivers open to the distractions caused by mobile phones. more

UK Operators Sharing 3G Spectrum for Mobile TV Trials
Orange and T-Mobile UK have announced they intend to jointly pilot a new mobile TV and multimedia broadcast service in London using NextWave Wireless' 3G MBMS based TDtv solution. The pilot, scheduled for the second half of 2008, is designed to demonstrate how the cost of providing mobile TV services can be significantly reduced when mobile operators share widely-available unpaired 3G spectrum and a standards-based TDtv broadcast network. more

It seems that as the mobile phone has shrunk over time, so has the mobile phone workers office space. A study by the property consultancy Knight Frank has reported that office space per worker in the south-east of the UK is shrinking. Citing several companies, including Vodafone - the study reported that historic allocations of 140 - 190 sq ft are now reducing to 120 - 130 sq ft per person. more

Vodafone Offers 3G to Apple MacBooks
Vodafone UK says that it is going to start offering a 3G datacard that will work with Apple laptop computers. The device, which will be available in the autumn, will allow customers to access Vodafone's high speed 3G broadband service by simply plugging it into the USB slot on their computer. more
