Third of under 35 year olds receptive to idea of ad-sponsored mobile content

A new UK survey, commissioned by Mobixell Networks - providers of mobile multimedia and advertising solutions - amongst 832 mobile phone users, reveals a sizeable opportunity exists amongst the 16-34 year-old demographic to offer ad-funded mobile content via rich media services like multimedia messaging or mobile video services. The findings reveal that 35% of 16-35 year-olds would use more MMS and 29% would use more video services if they were offered free or discounted in return for receiving mobile adverts.  more

Nordic Region Leads The Way In Mobile Operator Consolidation

Fitch Ratings has said that it feels the mobile sector consolidation in the Nordic region is an indicator of the future development in the rest of the developed European market. While Fitch notes that the future competitive situation in each market will be determined by country-specific regulatory regimes and consumer behaviour, the agency believes that overriding industry economics will lead to the consolidation of independently operated mobile virtual network operators ("MVNO") throughout Europe. more

Nokia Siemens Networks to Host Full MVNO Core Network for Blyk

blyk, the pan-European free mobile network for young people, funded by advertising, has chosen Nokia Siemens Networks to supply, build and host its core network. In its first-ever full mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) hosting arrangement, Nokia Siemens Networks will be hosting the entire operation of blyk's core network.
