Telecom carriers spent $62 billion on outsourced services in 2008
Market research firm Infonetics Research is reporting that telecom carriers spent US$62 billion on outsourced services in 2008, and have plans to increase that spending. The report noted that the top revenue-generating tasks outsourced by service providers in 2008 include network maintenance, application service delivery, network build, and network planning and design. more

Nokia Siemens Networks has been awarded a pan India contract from bharti Airtel for deployment of a single Interactive Voice Response (IVR) platform across all 23 circles. The three year turnkey and multi-million Euro contract includes designing, planning, systems integration and optimization services. more
Nokia Siemens Wins $900 Million Indian Contract
India's bharti Airtel has signed a US$900 million network expansion contract across it's mobile and fixed networks with Nokia Siemens Networks. In the first multi platform network contract of its kind to be awarded in India, Nokia Siemens Networks will expand Airtel?s GSM network in eight circles; its National Long Distance and International Long Distance network with 1.8 million Next Generation Network (NGN) ports ? the largest ever NGN contract in the country ? and its International Calling Card prepaid service capacity by 4.5 million news users. more

UPDATE: India's BSNL Confirms $4.5 Billion GSM Contract
NEW DELHI -(Dow Jones)- India's state-run telecommunications operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam is set to award equipment makers Ericsson and Nokia Siemens Networks an estimated $4.5 billion to $4.7 billion combined contract in the next couple of days, a senior official said Thursday. more
