Motorola Deploys Location Based Services for NTT DoCoMo
Motorola has announced that Japan's NTT DoCoMo will deploy its Mobile Advanced Location System (MALS) to power DoCoMo's new location based services. Motorola MALS is compliant with the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) Secure User Plane Location (SUPL) 1.0 standard, allowing faster and more accurate detection of the position of DoCoMo's users, even when using base stations of overseas carriers in the roaming areas. more

DoCoMo Demos Mobile Downloads at 120Mbps using LTE Test Network
Fujitsu has announced that, in collaboration with NTT DoCoMo, they have conducted successful field testing for Long-term Evolution (LTE), using 4x4 MIMO technology. The testing took place in the Special Ubiquitous Zone, an area of the northern Japanese city of Sapporo in Hokkaido, designated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications in 2008 as a wireless communications testing area, and used prototypes of the wireless LTE base stations developed jointly by NTT DoCoMo, Fujitsu and Fujitsu Laboratories which, with the use of MIMO technology, resulted in high-speed wireless transmissions in the range of 120 Mbps (using 10 MHz bandwidth) in Sapporo's urban environment. more

Bangladeshi Operators to Share Network Infrastructure
Bangladeshi operators, Warid Telecom and Pacific Bangladesh Telecom (Citycell) have signed an agreement to share their network infrastructure. Under the deal, signed earlier this week the two companies will share the passive elements of around 350 of their respective base stations - covering towers, poles, transmitter equipment, transmission bandwidth and power supplies. more

Ericsson selected as Super 3G/LTE vendor
Ericsson says it has been selected by Japan's NTT DoCoMo for its Long-Term Evolution (LTE) base station development project. Ericsson and NTT DoCoMo have long cooperated in the areas of research and development, and standardization. Since 1992, Ericsson has delivered PDC base stations to NTT DoCoMo and, more recently, W-CDMA base stations for the operator's FOMAâ„¢ network. more
