Nokia Siemens Completes 2nd Phase of China Mobile TD-SCDMA Rollout

Nokia Siemens Networks has announced that it is one of first vendors to complete phase two deployment of China Mobile's 3G network, based on TD-SCDMA technology. Nokia Siemens Networks has been working with China Mobile subsidiaries Fujian Mobile, Henan Mobile, Jiangxi Mobile and Hainan Mobile to deploy their respective 3G networks.  more

China Mobile to Have 100 Million 3G Subscribers in 2011

China Mobile aims to have 100 million TD-SCDMA users in the next three years, with the figure reaching 10 million this year, according to company executives and government officials. Lu Dongfeng, vice-president of Datang Telecom Technology, a provider of TD-SCDMA products, said at an industry forum in Chongqing that China plans to have 100 million TD-SCDMA users by the end of 2011.  more

Alcatel-Lucent Cuts Power Consumption by Base Stations by a Quarter

Alcatel-Lucent announced an enhancement to its GSM/EDGE mobile networking portfolio which it says can reduce power consumption by up to 27 percent. The power reductions were demonstrated during January field trial this year with China Mobile in the country's Jiangsu province. On average, a 24 percent power saving has been achieved.  more

China Mobile Plans $8.6 Billion 3G CAPEX in 2009

China Mobile says that it plans to spend around US$8.6 billion during 2009 alone on rolling out its 3G network - based on the home-grown TD-SCDMA technology. The company aims to deploy some 60,000 base stations in 238 cities this year.  more

ZTE Wins Pakistani Capacity Expansion Project

China's ZTE has announced the signing of a US$100 million contract with China MobileĆ's Pakistan subsidiary (CMPak) to help them expand the capacity of their GSM infrastructure as part of its Phase 2 project.  more
