Azercell Commissions 1,500th Base Station
Azerbaijani mobile operator, Azercell has commissioned its 1,500th base station at 1,500 meters above sea level - in the mountainous region of Gusar, northern region of Azerbaijan. According to figures from the Mobile World subscriber tracker, Azercell is the largest mobile subscriber in the country and ended September with just under 3.4 million customers. This represents a market share of around 67% in a country with a population penetration level of 62% more

Base Stations Bring Electricity to Rural Villages
Three rural villages in Armenia's Gegarkunik region have been connected to the mains electricity supply - as a result of the mobile operator, VivaCell-MTS requiring a power supply for its base stations in the region. VivaCell ran high voltage power cables to its Base Transceiver Stations (BTS), and then ran extra power supplies to an electricity sub-station (power transformer) in each of the villages. more
