Huawei Launches Vodafone Co-Developed Base Station for Rural Areas

Huawei says that it has launched a 2G base station (BTS) designed for use in rural communities in developing markets. The “EasyGSM BTS” is an All IP-based compact BTS, and was co-designed and developed in collaboration with Vodafone in the two firms’ joint Radio Mobile Innovation Centre based in Madrid, Spain.  more

Turkish Operator Deploys Wind-Powered Base Station

Pannon Commissions Wind-Powered Base Station

Hungary based mobile network, Pannon says that it recently commissioned the country's first wind-powered base station. The village of Kálló in Nógrád County offers suitable wind conditions throughout the year, meaning the wind generator can contribute up to 50% of the base station's power demand.  more

Telenor Plans 40% Cut in Carbon Emissions by 2016

Telenor has announced that it plans to reduce the carbon intensity of its global operations with 40 per cent by 2016, compared to the 2007 level. Wireless Power System Transmits Energy Over 148km

A test of a wireless broadcast of solar power has been carried out which was able to transmit energy RF energy over a distance of up to 148 kilometers (about 90 miles) - almost 100-times further than a major 1970s power transmission performed by NASA in the Mojave Desert in California.  more
