The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission has said that it has serious concerns about a possible purchase of the Optus GSM network by Vodafone Australia, as this would give it a 51% market share. "There's an obvious, very serious problem of the mobile phone part of the transaction," ACCC Chairman Allan Fels told reporters yesterday, adding "Our starting position would be that Vodafone couldn't acquire Optus in any simple sense."" more
