Malaysian WiMAX Operators Fined for Missing Coverage Requirements
Malaysia's telecoms regulator has fined three of the country's four WiMAX license holders for missing their network rollout targets. The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) is reported to have issued the fines last week, reported The Star newspaper. All three operators are appealing their fines. more

Malaysian WiMAX Operators Warned to Improve Coverage
Malaysia's government has warned WiMAX operators that it has the power to revoke their operating licenses if they do not meet minimum coverage requirements by the end of this year. The country's Information, Communication and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim said that all companies responsible for providing wireless services must achieve a 25% broadband penetration by the end of this year, and up to 50% by the end of next year. more

Huawei Wins Malaysian WiMAX Contract
Malaysian WiMAX license holder, asiaspace has awarded Huawei Technologies with a contract to supply the company with an end-to-end WiMAX solution. asiaspace, known for its capability of building telecommunication towers for mobile operators throughout Malaysia aims to provide 40 per cent of the Malaysian population with Internet broadband access through its WiMAX service by 2010. more
