DoCoMo Full-Year Profits Down 3.9%
Japan's NTT DoCoMo has reported a dip of 3.9% in its full fiscal year profits to reach ¥471.9 billion (US$4.93 billion), compared to ¥491.2 billion in the previous year. The average expected by analysts had been a rise in profits to around ¥499.5 billion, according to a Dow Jones Newswires report. Operating income saw a slight rise to ¥831 billion due to a decrease in cost of equipments resulting from decreased number of handsets sold. more

US Data Market Grew 40% in Q2 '08
The US wireless data market grew 40% in Q208 compared to Q207 to reach $8.2B in data revenues according to a report from Chetan Sharma Consulting. The total for 2008 stands at US$15.7 billion for the first six months, 38% higher than the total for the same time period in 2007. The USA again exceeded Japan in mobile data service revenues for the quarter and the market is on track to reach US$34 billion in data revenues for 2008. more

Japan's Softbank Outlines iPhone Pricing and Tariff Details
Japan's Softbank Mobile has unveiled its pricing plans for Apple's 3G iPhone when it is launched next month. The company plans to sell the entry model for ¥23,040 ($214.60), with the larger 16GB model will sell for ¥34,560 (US$322.15). more
