Worldwide Mobile Phone Sales Down 6% - Smartphones Up 27% in Q2
Worldwide mobile phone sales totalled 286.1 million units in the second quarter of 2009, a 6.1 per cent decrease from the second quarter of 2008, according to Gartner. Smartphone sales surpassed 40 million units, a 27 per cent increase from the same period last year, representing the fastest-growing segment of the mobile-devices market. more

Study Finds Disconnect Between Smartphone Adoption and Ability to Manage Mobile Devices
The mobile device automation vendor, Zenprise has published the findings of an Osterman Research study which found that most enterprise IT departments are not equipped to handle the rapid increase in smartphone adoption. VoIP provider Skype has confirmed speculation and announced that it has launched a Skype application for the apple iPhone, which will be available on the apple App Store from today.
