iPhone: Not a top 20 handset for browsing and buying on the mobile web

According to statistics released by mobile billing and analytics firm, Bango, when it comes to the most popular phones for browsing and buying content on the mobile web worldwide, the iPhone still sits outside the top 20. The Bango Top 20 handset list, based on Bango's February statistics, puts the Nokia 3110c on top, followed by the Samsung M800 in 2nd and the Nokia 6300 in 3rd.  more

Motorola May Fall to 5th Place in Q2 Handset Ranking

Motorola is predicted to fall to fifth place in the global ranking for mobile phone sales according to sources in the Taiwan handset industry. The sources told the DigiTimes publication that the latest estimates predict that Motorola will ship only 22-23 million units in the second quarter, as compared to 28.1 million and 24 million units projected for LG and Sony Ericsson, respectively.  more

Symbian Reports 18.5 Million Handsets Using its OS Shipped in Q1

Smartphone OS vendor, Symbian has reported that 18.5 million Symbian mobile phones were shipped to consumers worldwide in Q1 of this year - a 16.5% increase on Q1 2007 (15.9m). UK based mobile billing firm, Bango published click through and conversion rates from mobile advertising campaigns to help marketers measure the success of their campaigns. Banner and text ads on mobile websites typically have a click through rate of 2-8% with a conversion rate of 2-5% which can be as high as 12% on some networks. This data was collected by Bango customers who use Bango analytics to measure their mobile marketing campaigns.  more
