LTE Deployments will Cluster in 2600 Frequency Band

Strategy analytics is predicting that the majority of LTE deployments by wireless operators will use the 2,600 MHz band, creating ample new opportunities for terminal component vendors. A strong tranche of deployments will also occur at sub-1,000 MHz frequencies, including roll-outs by such prominent operators as Verizon in the US, eventually accounting for one-third of deployments globally.  more

Batteries Need Charging More Often to Cope with Smartphone Power Demands

Studying the battery budget in cellphones, Strategy analytics' latest report reveals that improvements in component power consumption and battery chemistry will not be sufficient to offset the growth in feature penetration and application usage. Strategy analytics predicts that consumer WiMAX subscriptions in the developing countries of Asia will grow from a few thousand now to almost 27 million by 2013. US Wireless Growth Won't Be Stopped by Weak Economy

A Strategy analytics report is predicting that US cellular subscriber growth will remain strong despite the economic situation, although growth levels will scale back slightly from 2008.
