Analog Devices Quarterly Profits Down by 53%

Signal processing semiconductor vendor, Analog Devices (ADI) has reported a 25% decline in its third fiscal quarter of US$492 million, although this was a slight increase on the previous quarter. However, profits were down by 53% at US$65.5 million compared with a profit of $138.6 million a year ago.  more

Fixed WiMAX IC vendors have recently re-directed their energies towards Mobile WiMAX, particularly in the second half of 2006 and into 2007, reports In-Stat. This represents a dramatic change, as the overwhelming majority of 2005 and 2006 WiMAX chipsets were Fixed WiMAX (802.16d)-compliant, with a very small percentage in 2006 representing chipsets used in early WiBro (mobile WiMAX-based) devices, the high-tech market research firm says. more

Additionally, because of its ultra-small packaging, the Othello-E transceiver is among the smallest EDGE transceivers available on the market today. Analog Supporting Chinese 3G Standard

Analog Devices has announced that China's ZTE Corporation has designed it's SoftFone-LCR chipset and Datang Mobile's solution into its new 3G TD-SCDMA U310 handset and MU100 data card. Analog Devices' SoftFone-LCR chipset is based on the popular RAM-based SoftFone architecture also used in Analog Devices' GSM/GPRS and EDGE chipsets. The chipset incorporates a digital baseband processor, which is based on Analog Devices' Blackfin Processor, achieving more than 250 MHz performance and exceptionally low power consumption through Blackfin's Dynamic Power Management capability. more
