ZTE, Qualcomm and Aircell Collaborate on In-flight Mobile Broadband System
It has been announced that China's ZTE has been working with Qualcomm to create the networking platform for AircellÃ's new Inflight Internet service, Gogo, which first began service in August on select American Airlines flights. AircellÃ's Air-to-Ground (ATG) service relies on ZTEÃ's EV-DO Rev. A base stations and IP switching platform and QualcommÃ's aircraft-mounted modems. more

Another airline loosens cell phone usage rules
America's Continental Airlines has followed the lead set by American Airlines last month and has also announced a policy revision allowing customers to use their cellular telephones sooner after an aircraft lands at its destination. Under the new policy effective cellular phone use is permitted after landing when advised by the flight attendants. Previously, phone use was restricted until the aircraft door opened at the arrival gate. more
