Alcatel-Lucent Testing Rural LTE 800Mhz Services in Wales

alcatel-lucent and Arqiva have announce trials of a rural LTE deployment in the Preseli Mountains, West Wales, UK. The trial aims to demonstrate the economic and technical viability of a neutral-host wireless network as a route to extending broadband Internet services to areas with no broadband coverage ('notspots') and those with speeds lower than 2Mbits/s throughout the UK, estimated at 10% of UK households.  more

China Telecom deploys CDMA Push-to-Talk service with Alcatel-Lucent

alcatel-lucent says that it has deployed its CDMA Push-To-Talk (PTT) service for China Telecom. This new service, a first in China, will target vertical and enterprise customers and was launched across the country last month. The commercial contract was secured by alcatel-lucent Shanghai Bell, which previously deployed China Telecom's CDMA EVDO-based solution.  more
