Ericsson to Manage Angolan Network
Ericsson and Angola's Unitel have signed a contract for network performance consulting and continued expansion of Unitel's GSM/WCDMA network over the coming three years. The contract includes a comprehensive network performance partnership agreement, to strengthen Unitel's network quality. Under the agreement, Ericsson consultants will perform network improvement and optimization services for the core, radio and transmission networks. more

Global Mobile Market to Exceed US$900 Billion in 2008
A report from IDATE says that the world telecom services market is estimated at US$1,365 billion in 2008 - a 4.2% increase over the year before - and is expected to be worth over US$1,416 billion in 2009. With a total turnover estimated at US$742.2 billion in 2008, mobile services account for 54% of the telecom services market and single handedly deliver all of the sector's growth. But the annual growth rate has dropped from more than 12% in 2007 to 8% in 2008. more

Five Firms Win Multi-Billion Dollar Chinese 3G Tender
Huawei, Motorola and Ericsson are reported to have been the biggest winners in the latest WCDMA infrastructure tender from China Unicom, industry sources have told the South China Morning Post. The firm believed to have issued a tender to cover 55 cities in 30 provinces - the first stage in a rollout to cover 282 cities with a total CAPEX of around US$11 billion during 2009. more
