China Unicom Selects Alcatel-Lucent to Deploy 3G Networks in 14 Provinces

alcatel-lucent says that it has been selected by China Unicom to deploy 3G W-CDMA networks in 14 Chinese provinces. Initial network deployments in the cities of Tianjin, Baoding, Wenzhou, Taizhou, Guiyang and Guilin are expected to be completed in May, 2009.  more

Alcatel-Lucent Loss Shrinks on Lower Revenues

alcatel-lucent has reported a net loss of ¢â€š¬40 million (US$51.8 million) compared to a loss ¢â€š¬345 million a year earlier, when earnings were hammered by restructuring charges. Revenues declined 6.6% year-over-year and decreased 0.9% sequentially to ¢â€š¬4,065 million (US$5.2 billion).  more

Alcatel-Lucent Wins Nigerian Network Expansion Contract

alcatel-lucent has signed a contract with Globacom (Glo), Nigeria's second largest national operator to extend the network capacity and performance of Globacom's mobile and fixed networks. The project will enable Globacom to increase its mobile network capacity (including GSM/EDGE and W-CDMA/HSPA technologies) to support up to 35 million subscribers, and to raise its fixed network capacity.  more
