Russia's MegaFon taps Alcatel-Lucent to build Siberian 2G/3G converged network

Alcatel-Lucent Test Mobile TV Services in Ukraine

alcatel-lucent and Ukrainian Television and Radio Company ETHER announced they have successfully completed field tests that demonstrated for the first time ever in a live network the viability of the DVB-SH format (Digital Video Broadcasting - Satellite services on Handhelds) using the UHF band - a band typically used for residential television broadcasting and mobile broadcasting DVB-H. This test showed an increase of coverage by DVB-SH through the UHF band (compared with legacy DVB-H networks and technologies).  more

Live Tests of LTE Network in San Diego

USA based Cox Communications has announced the successful completion of voice calling and high definition video streaming over an LTE enabled network. Cox's trials utilize the AWS and 700 MHz spectrum that it acquired at Federal Communication Commission auctions in 2006 and 2008. Cox spent over $550 million for radio spectrum licenses to support its wireless plans, which include wireless broadband.  more

Alcatel-Lucent Demos LTE Running at 800Mhz in Europe

alcatel-lucent says that it has successfully completed the worldwide first LTE data call on the 800 MHz "European Digital Dividend" (EDD) spectrum band in a live network. The call was completed last month at alcatel-lucent's LTE end-to-end solutions center in Stuttgart, Germany, involved transmitting high-definition video streaming over the air using alcatel-lucent's commercial infrastructure platforms and prototype mobile devices.  more
