Alcatel-Lucent and NEC announce a LTE Joint Venture

alcatel-lucent and NEC have announced plans to form a joint venture that will focus on the development of Long Term Evolution (LTE) wireless broadband access solutions. These solutions will support the network evolution of leading customers around the world, such as NTT DoCoMo, who has already selected NEC as a vendor for commercial service deployment of its Super 3G (LTE) project, and Verizon, with whom alcatel-lucent has already initiated a LTE trial program.  more

Testing 3G Evolution on Vodafone and T-Mobile's German Networks

Alcatel- Lucent has announced that it is to start field-tests of 3G evolution platforms in Germany running tests at several Vodafone and T-Mobile locations. The testing, part of an initiative by the Enablers for Ambient Services and Systems Consortium (EASY-C), involves wireless communications technologies expected to play key roles in future mobile networking standards including "4G" systems. The EASY-C is sponsored by the German Ministry for Education and Research.  more
