ZTE and Alcatel-Lucent Short-Listed for Indian Network Contract

­Indian state-owned telco, BSNL has shortlisted ZTE and alcatel-lucent to supply network infrastructure for 5.5 million GSM lines to the company, BSNL's Chairman Gopal Das told reporters. The company is currently studying the separate technical and financial bids, although reports that the two companies were the lowest cost bidders originally emerged last month.  more

Alcatel-Lucent, ZTE Offer Lowest Bids In BSNL Tender

alcatel-lucent and ZTE are reported to be the lowest bidders in the tender for 5.5 million GSM lines on behalf of India's state-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL). While alcatel-lucent quoted $53 a line for supplying the access radio equipment, ZTE has quoted $8 a line for core network gear, reports the Hindu Business Line, citing government sources.  more

India's BSNL Bans Huawei, ZTE from 5.5 Million Line GSM Contract

India's BSNL h­as formally barred China's Huawei and ZTE from bidding in the latest round in its on/off tender for some 5.5 million GSM lines for its Northern and Eastern zones. Alcatel-Lucent May be Back-Up Vendor to Huawei's Indian Contract

More confusion over BSNL's mammoth GSM network tender after it emerged that alcatel-lucent may be asked to act as a back-up vendor for the contract awarded to Huawei covering the southern end of the country. The telco was told by the Department of Telecoms to be particularly vigilant when testing Huawei supplied hardware to ensure there are no exploits in the software installed at the request of the Chinese government.  more
