Standards Based Solution for Voice and SMS Services Over LTE Announced

­A gang of telecoms companies have jointly defined the preferred way to ensure the smooth introduction and delivery of voice and SMS services on Long Term Evolution (LTE) networks worldwide. The companies involved are AT&T, Orange, Telefonica, TeliaSonera, Verizon, Vodafone, alcatel-lucent, Ericsson, Nokia Siemens Networks, Nokia, Samsung and Sony Ericsson.  more

Alcatel-Lucent 3rd-Quarter Losses Widen

­alcatel-lucent has reported a larger than expected third-quarter loss on lower sales. The company lost EUR182 million (US$270 million), compared to EUR40 million a year ago. That was worse than the EUR 174.4 million average loss from eight estimates compiled by Bloomberg.  more

Telefonica Announces Wide-Spread Trials of LTE Networks

­Telefonica says that it has reached an agreement with six LTE technology providers to launch LTE test projects in six different countries. The suppliers Telefonica has chosen so far: alcatel-lucent, Ericsson, Huawei, NEC, Nokia Siemens Networks and ZTE, will start rolling out the equipment necessary for testing the technology during the coming months.  more

Alcatel-Lucent Wins Iraqi CDMA Contract
