Improving LTE Data Speeds at the Edges of Cells

­The first live field tests of Coordinated Multipoint Transmission (CoMP) a new technology that will increase data transmission rates pn LTE networks have been carried out by the Bell Labs. Alcatel-Lucent Starts Shipping 700Mhz Based LTE Base Staions

alcatel-lucent says that following certification from the U.S. telecoms regulator, the FCC, it is now shipping its 700 MHz LTE base stations to service providers in the United States. With this, alcatel-lucent has become the first vendor to have FCC-certified LTE base stations available, a key requirement for sales in the U.S. market.  more

Alcatel-Lucent Wins Chinese 3G Contract

alcatel-lucent says that a local consortium has won a TD-SCDMA contract from China Mobile covering the deployment of its phase III TD-SCDMA mobile networks in 11 provinces. The contract was won by alcatel-lucent Shanghai Bell, and Datang Mobile.  more

Alcatel-Lucent Wins Chinese Contracts Worth $1.7 Billion

Alcatel-Lucent to Expand China Mobile Pakistan's Network

alcatel-lucent has signed a contract worth US$52.9 million with China Mobile Pakistan (CMPak), to expand its existing GSM/EDGE network. The expansion, which is now underway, will allow CMPak to provide enhanced commercial services in northern Pakistan by the end of the first quarter of 2009.  more

China Unicom Selects Alcatel-Lucent to Deploy 3G Networks in 14 Provinces

alcatel-lucent says that it has been selected by China Unicom to deploy 3G W-CDMA networks in 14 Chinese provinces. Initial network deployments in the cities of Tianjin, Baoding, Wenzhou, Taizhou, Guiyang and Guilin are expected to be completed in May, 2009.  more

Alcatel-Lucent launches new location-based mobile platform

alcatel-lucent has shown off a location based mobile advertising platform - with the catchy name of the 5130 Geographic Messaging Services Platform (GMSP). The company says that the 5130 GMSP leverages unique Bell Labs innovations to increase the accuracy and timeliness of location-based services. The platform overcomes two of the key challenges in the delivery of such services by using sophisticated techniques to reduce the capacity demands on mobile networks and the consumption of battery life in mobile devices.  more
