Alaska Communications Results Hit by Write-downs and iPhone Churn
Alaska Communications Systems (ACS) has reported that its 3rd-quarter profits was down to US$300,000 compared to US$1.8 million a year ago. The decline in net income was put down to a $4.9 million increase in depreciation expense resulting from an assessment that with changes in technology, asset salvage values previously set by regulators and historically viewed as reasonable, were no longer appropriate. more

Alaska Communications Systems Revenues Up by 19%
Alaska Communications Systems has reported a 19% rise in Q2 revenues to US$96.1 million, and a net income of US$2.5 million, compared to a profit of US$600,000 a year ago. EBITDA of $31.1 million was up 2.3 percent from prior year EBITDA of $30.4 million, with gains in enterprise and wireless more than offsetting structural declines in retail, wholesale and access wireline revenue. more

Alaska secures enlarged wireless contract
The North American CDMA operator, Alaska Communications Systems (ACS) says that it has entered into a contract with the State of Alaska for wireless services. Under the terms of the new contract, ACS is supplying phones and services for approximately 4,400 State of Alaska employees and contractors beginning in May 2005. Under the terms of a previous contract, ACS had been supplying wireless services to the State of Alaska for approximately 3,900 phones. more

Alaska Communications Systems says that it plans to launch Alaska's first commercially available 3G wireless data network. The CDMA2000 1xEV-DO network will be powered by Nortel Networks CDMA core and access technology, giving ACS wireless subscribers an experience of high-speed broadband access. more
