AIS Suspends 3G Expansion Pending License Auction
Thailand's Advanced Info Service (ais) has suspended the expansion of its trial 3G network running over the 900Mhz band, citing concerns about congestion for its existing GSM subscribers. The conpany will now wait for the long delayed 3G auction to release radio spectrum in the more conventional 2100 Mhz bands. more

Thai Operator Considers Deploying 3G Services at 900Mhz
Thailand's Advanced Info Service (ais) says that it should be able to roll out 3G services, even without a specific operator license - by offering 3G services over the company's existing 900Mhz spectrum. The company has already set aside US$600 million for the first phase of 3G mobile phone services in Bangkok and 20 major provinces. more

Thailand's DTAC has taken steps to ensure its customers are not disconnected while it resolves an argument with the regulator, the Telephone Organisation of Thailand (TOT). DTAC has lodged the cheque for US$25 million with the Administrative Court until a court hearing is held to determine if the fees are valid. more
