Thailand 3G License Sale Could be Delayed Until 2010
Thailand's on/off process to issue 3G licenses seems to have hit the off-switch again with reports that the tender could be delayed until next year, with network launches not now expected until late in 2010. The secretary-general of the Office of National Telecommunications Commission, Suranand Wongwittayakamjorn told the Bangkok Post that "the much-awaited trial auction for 3G licences will now be put back to January, with licences being awarded by the first quarter of next year" more

AIS Suspends 3G Expansion Pending License Auction
Thailand's Advanced Info Service (ais) has suspended the expansion of its trial 3G network running over the 900Mhz band, citing concerns about congestion for its existing GSM subscribers. The conpany will now wait for the long delayed 3G auction to release radio spectrum in the more conventional 2100 Mhz bands. more

Thailand's TAC Unable to Launch 3G Services until 2009
Thailand's Total Access Communication (TAC) says that it will not be able to launch its 3G network until early next year at the earliest due to regulatory problems. The company had formed a partnership with CAT Telecom to deploy a 3G network on its existing radio spectrum but says that its partner has not yet approved the plan. CAT Telecom is state owned. more
